ABOUT
Welcome, my name is Domen Dimovski and I am the founder of Caligo FX, my online portfolio and motion design / visual effects resource site. I am based in Kranj, Slovenia. I'm mostly working in a field of art & design, still and motion pictures. You can find more information about my work under Portfolio page or visit domendimovski.weebly.com For collaborations, project inquiries or other things you can contact me via: ✉ [email protected] |
I first became interested in 3D animation in 2009, and I've been working as a CG artist ever since. My initial intention was to use this website to share personal and professional 3D explorations, share digital renders, and provide advanced tutorials and intriguing products for the motion design and visual effects communities. My curiosity grew as I learned more about the creative potential of film, animation, and modern art. You can read more about me here.
I think about works of art from a textual and contextual perspective: the level of concept, form, and meaning, which corresponds to narrative theme, discourse, and story. Storytelling, design theory (gestalt principles, color theory, methodology, state of the art), and understanding the broader context of the field are all part of meaning-making. Art is, after all, a truth procedure that involves, on the one hand, a passion for the aesthetic quality of still or moving images and, on the other hand, a desire for contemplation of our reality. We know from Plato's time that a artform can be more meaningful than the reality we know from the mythology of everyday noise. All of these theories interest me, as does the philosophy of mind and the cognitive science, which analyzes perception, emotions, learning, and the neuroscience underlying them. In addition to reading books on narrative storytelling, philosophy, and psychoanalysis, I also enjoy writing short essays. Go to Pisane-topike if you're interested and speak Slovenian.
